Cookies and storage

Summary

Firekeeper uses a single cookie, the session one, and it only exists after you sign in. Everything else stays in your own browser's storage, and isn't sent to anyone. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The session cookie

• What it is: what keeps you signed in.
• When it's created: only when you sign in or create an account. Guide pages set no cookies at all.
• How long it lasts: 30 days without use, or until you sign out.
• Legal basis: necessary for the service you asked for.

What stays in your browser

• The hint that there's an account on this device: so the header can show your avatar without asking the server. It doesn't identify you.
• The header numbers: your @, the avatar version and how many requests and notifications there are, so they don't flicker between pages. They go away when you sign out.
• Your progress in the guides: your marks, and the ones not yet sent to the server, so the guide works offline. Without an account, progress stays only here.
• Your choices: the game names preference (localized or original) and your answer about metrics.
• Pages saved for offline reading: the site installed on your phone keeps the guides you opened. Signing out or deleting your account deletes those pages.

Usage metrics

Only if you accept, in the notice on your first visit. We count, anonymously, which pages are opened, to know what to improve (PostHog, with no cookie, no screen recording and no cross-site tracking). Without your consent, nothing is counted. You can change your answer right here, at any time. Legal basis: consent.

How to delete it

Signing out deletes the session, the hint, the header numbers and the pages saved on this device. You can also clear the site's data in your browser settings. Account data on the server is deleted by deleting the account, as the privacy policy explains.
